Are you getting the Internet Speed you pay for?

Help us help you. There is strength in numbers. It has come to the attention of the Town Board that in some areas of the town, that certain internet service providers are not supplying anything close to what they are supposedly selling. This is a concern whether or not this is causing you any problems. You should be getting what you are paying for! Please, let us know if you have internet speed issues. We are conducting an on line survey. You will need to run a speed test on your connection. There are many internet sites that offer this service, but one that has been universally accepted as being accurate and safe is http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest// when the page comes up it lists a number of cities to which you can conduct a speed test. For the speeds in question there should be little or no difference between cities. You can run multiple tests at any time for free at this site. In order to get an accurate test there should be only one computer in the house connecting at the time of the test. The best time to test is a time when it is most important to you to have good speed. Prime time is 7:00pm – 10:00pm.

Please some time in the next week run a test or two and report back your typical slowest speed.

Note: there are two speeds Down stream and Up stream. Both are important. This is a good exercise even if you are not having any issues. You should be getting what you are paying for!
